Research Workshop Series 2023-2024

SEMCME Research Workshop Series 2023-2024

All Research Workshop Series presentations have been previously recorded and will be available through the 2023-20234 Academic Year.

Each year the Research Committee of the Southeast Michigan Center for Medical Education (SEMCME) conducts this workshop series to help residents learn the fundamentals of research methodology through comprehensive discussion coupled with relevant research study examples. The emphasis in each of the sessions is on the research process, including defining and assessing the problem, planning the study, implementing and analyzing outcomes, and communicating results. The Workshop Series will allow residents the opportunity to interact with SEMCME faculty with research expertise who will provide limited research project guidance.

The SEMCME Research Workshop Series incorporates Practice-Based Learning (PBL) and Communication (C) from the ACGME General Competencies. Workshops will cover:

PBL1.  Analyzing and performing practice-based activities using a methodology system.

PBL3. Obtaining and applying scientific evidence related to patients’ health while applying information to a larger patient base.

PBL4. Applying knowledge of study designs and statistical methods to evaluate published clinical studies and other information on diagnostic and therapeutic effectiveness.

C2. Use effective listening skills and provide information using effective writing skills.
