Target Audience
All Faculty, Physicians (MDs and DOs), Psychologists, Social Workers, Residents, Coordinators, and Medical Educators from SEMCME Member Institutions.          

Course Description
Managing academic and professional concerns are not only stressful but have lasting impacts to both the learner and program. This conference will explore the complexities of HR for learners and the legal entanglements that accompany the decisions made by the program and institution. This event will engage learners directly on proper crisis management, becoming familiar with the types of crises that happen in GME and creating a response plan you can take back to your institution.          

Objectives
After completing this workshop, participants will be able to:    
Provide a base knowledge of managing unexpected & complex situations and general human relations requirements in medical education.  
Properly strategize how to prepare for a crisis and when to escalate to legal counsel and GME leadership.  
Learn to communicate and train faculty on required and best practices.  
Learn to create action plans focused on a variety of crisis situations and the utilization of an emergency response plan.    

 

Accreditation Statement: 

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by McLaren Health Care and Southeast Michigan Center for Medical Education. McLaren Health Care is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team."

This activity will also award credit for psychology (APA) if the requirements necessary for credit are met.  

Medicine CME: The McLaren Health Care designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  

Osteopathic CME: The McLaren Health Care is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. The McLaren Health Care designates this activity for a maximum of 3.0 AOA Category 2-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity. 

Psychology CE: The McLaren Health Care designates this activity for a maximum of 3.0 APA CE Credit. Psychologists should only claim the credit commensurate of their participation in the activity.  


Social Work CE: As a Jointly Accredited Organization, McLaren Health is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Board (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on course accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing the course receive 3.0 general continuing education credits.
