Course Description
The revised ACGME Milestones 2.0 were intended to clarify program requirements; however, concerns regarding non-PC and MK milestones ICS, PBLI, PROF and SBP persist. Our workshop focuses on implementation and evaluation of Professionalism. We present a model that integrates GME curriculum with medical staff policy. Both groups are held to similar standards. In addition, evaluation, and remediation tools will be presented.
Objectives
After completing this series, participants will be able to:
1. Define professionalism and recognize professionalism expectations in health professionals
2. Recognize, manage, and re-mediate unprofessional behavior
3. Understand the relationships between regulatory requirements, curriculum and evaluation when developing a professionalism program
4. Understand the role of Frame of Reference and Behavioral Observation training on evaluation
5. Discriminate between unprofessional behavior and physician burn out / mental health
Lectures will include:
1. Foundations of Professionalism: Definitions, Accreditation Requirements, and Curriculum
2. Expectations for Professionalism in Health Professions
3. Recognizing and Managing Unprofessional Behavior
4. Remediation of Unprofessional Behavior
5. Assessment of Professionalism: Connecting the Dots
